コーヒー好きな人はその産地や品種更には焙煎方法や挽き方にまでこだわります。しかしながらコーヒー豆は焙煎した後、鮮度が落ち香りを失いやすいものです。原因は酸化・湿気・乾燥そして紫外線など環境による劣化です。桐CUBEはコーヒーをそれらの悪条件から守り挽きたてのおいしさを保ちます。それはなぜでしょう?
Coffee lovers are particular about the origin, the variety, and even the roasting and grinding method. However, after roasting, coffee beans tend to lose their freshness and aroma easily. This is due to environmental factors such as oxidation, humidity, dryness, and ultraviolet rays. KIRI CUBE protects the coffee from these bad conditions and keeps the freshly ground flavor. Why is that?
 
 
Point 1 桐の気密性
 
熟練の職人が作った桐たんすは引き出しを閉めたら別の引き出しが飛び出してきます。これは桐たんすの気密性の高さを表す現象です。空気が逃げ場を探して別の引き出しを押し出して抜けるからです。当然こうなるには高い技術が必要です。この気密性によって内部は外部と遮断され温度や湿度・紫外線から守りコーヒーの鮮度を保つのです。また桐は多孔質な木材です。多孔質とは内部に空気の層を含むことで、発砲スチロールと同じ原理でこれが外部の悪条件をシャットアウトします。
When a Kiri drawer made by a skilled craftsman is closed, another drawer is popped out. This phenomenon is an indication of the airtightness of Kiri drawers. This is because the air escapes from one drawer by pushing out another drawer. Naturally, this requires a high level of skill. This airtightness shields the inside from the outside, protecting it from temperature, humidity, and ultraviolet rays, and keeping the coffee fresh. Also, the Kiri is porous, which means it contains a layer of air inside, the same principle as Styrofoam, which shuts out bad conditions.
 
Point 2 桐の抗酸化作用
 
桐は経年変化によりしだいに茶色くなっていきます。これは桐の内部のタンニンが表面に染み出してくるからです。この成分は弱アルカリ性。緑茶と同じものです。コーヒーに含まれる油脂類は酸化しやすく味や香りを失います。弱アルカリ性の桐に保存することによりおいしいコーヒーを酸化から守ります。
The Kiri gradually turns brown with age. This is due to the tannin inside the Kiri seeping through to the surface. This component is slightly alkaline, which is the same as green tea. The oils and fats in coffee easily oxidize and taste vinegary and sour. Preserving coffee in the weakly alkaline Kiri protects the delicious coffee from oxidation.
 
Point 3 本物の桐「国産桐」
 
このように桐には他の素材にはない特徴があります。ただしこれはその桐が本物かどうか。これが条件です。現在日本国内で流通する桐のほとんどが海外からの輸入材です。そしてその多くは防虫剤や漂白剤などの薬剤が使用されていることが多く、これでは桐自体が酸化してその機能が果たせません。当店では輸入材は一切使用せず本物の「国産桐」だけを取扱い続けております。
"Genuine Kiri"
 
Kiri has characteristics not found in other materials. However, this is only possible if the Paulownia wood is genuine because most of the Kiri currently in Japan is imported from overseas. Many of them treated with chemicals such as mothballs and bleach, which oxidize the Kiri itself and prevent it from fulfilling its function. We do not use any imported materials and but only genuine "domestic Kiri.
 
 
 
Point 4 構造
 
塗装には柿渋を使用。これにより抗酸化作用と強度が増しました。また落しぶたで二重に外部を遮断します。コーヒーだけでなく日本茶・紅茶・ハーブティーなどの保存にもお使いいただけます。
Structure
 
Persimmon tannin is used for the coating. It gives it an antioxidant effect and increased strength. It is also doubly sealed from the outside by a drop lid and can be used to store not only coffee beans but also tea bags and so on.

使用方法
① 最初にお使いになる時には乾いたフキンでよく拭いてからお使いください。
 
② 水洗いはしないでください。
③ 中身が入った状態で激しく動かすとこぼれる可能性があるのでおやめください。
④ コーヒーを入れ替えるときには残ったコーヒーをしっかりと取り除き、軽く乾拭きしてください。
Directions for use
(1) Wipe well with a paper towel before use.
(2) Do not wash with water.
(3) Do not move the cup vigorously when it is filled with coffee, as it may spill.
(4) When replacing the coffee, remove the remaining coffee thoroughly and wipe it lightly with a dry cloth.

尚この商品は芝浦工業大学 デザイン工学部の学生諸君とのコラボレーションにより実現しました。日本の伝統工芸と若い感性のマッチングです。
Kiri Project
 
Japanese people have used paulownia wood in their daily lives since ancient times. Its lightness, softness, and above all, the beauty of its wood grain have been utilized to store precious things, such as fine furnishings, clothing, and books. As time goes by, Japanese people's lifestyles change. Therefore, we wanted to create something convinient for today's lifestyle using Paulownia wood. It is a reason why the coffee canister "Kiri CUBE" was commercialized.
This product was a collaboration with students of the Design Engineering Department of Shibaura Institute of Technology. It is a match between Japanese traditional crafts and young sensibilities.
